Episode 163

Aaron and Brent bring back frequent guest Ryan King for a special episode featuring actor and musician Phil Buckman.

Buckman has played with groups like Fuel, Steel Panther, and Filter.  He was the featured bassist for Ryan’s pick, “No Love” in Episode 160.

Aaron, Brent, and Ryan talk with Phil about his music career, including his current band Petty Cash, and his acting career, which has included roles in movies like “An American Werewolf in Paris” along with a multitude of TV roles.

Then, each of the guys spotlight a track based around this week’s theme:  “Song With Great Bass Lines”.

Special Guest

Originally from Queens, New York, former Filter, FUEL, and current Petty Cash bassist, Phil Buckman arrived in Los Angeles as a teenager, and quickly made a name for himself in the L.A. music scene as the bassist for the dynamic Tribal Sex Cult.

Upon the demise of T.S.C., Phil kept busy with a wide variety of projects including Steel Panther, Texture, Helicopter Helicopter, as well as contributing to various film and TV soundtracks.

Phil also enjoys a successful acting and voiceover career with series regular roles on such television shows as Drexell’s Class (FOX), Daddy’s Girls (CBS), City of Angels (CBS), Bob Patterson (ABC), and Boston Public (FOX).

He can also be seen as himself in the award winning music documentary, Hired Gun.

Ryan King is an award winning actor, writer and improviser. He graduated from The Second City Chicago’s Improvisation & Comedic Acting program. Ryan is married to singer/songwriter, Carrie King, and lives in Atlanta, where he works as an actor, improviser, sketch writer, and improv instructor at Drama Inc.
